SUITE 101-156 CORONA, CA 91719 *********** THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE GULLIBLE Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law. Since my discovery of Thelema some years ago, I have often been asked why anyone should bother to spread a new form of thought. Many have mentioned that this is the greatest country in the world and that it does not need changing. My question is this: "for whom does the current system work?" Let me explain what I mean. Have you ever noticed that there are no fruit flies in Beverly Hills or Bel Aire? In fact, the only spraying has been done on lower to middle income neighborhoods. I sincerely believe that us Southern Californians need to watch the way we use our water. I had no problem with the restrictions which were imposed on us, after all those restrictions apply to everyone, right? Wrong! 96% of all the water used in Southern California is used by Agriculture and Industry. Did you know that at the time of the writing of this article there are no restrictions being enforced as to their use of water? The farmer is allowed to continue wasting our water by using outdated and insufficient methods of irrigation. Why is it that the penalty for dumping toxic waste is not as severe as the penalty for bringing fruit across the border? Millions of tax dollars have been spent on the anti-smoking campaign by the same people who are now trying to make us believe that Malathion is safe. They expect us to believe that smoking is far worse for us than having our houses, cars, and grass where our children play sprayed with a pesticide! It seems that the manufacturers of poisons (the oil companies) have been more successful in lining the pockets of our congressmen than the tobacco industry. By the way; where are the dollars going from the cigarette tax? There are thousands of homeless in this country. A third of them are children, yet our President would like to spend billions of our hard earned tax dollars to put a flag on Mars. Thanks to their prehistoric views on human sexuality the Christian movement has put this country decades behind in birth control technology. Their policy makes it necessary to resort to the barbaric use of abortion. My point is this: The REAL problem isn't whether or not Malathion is harmful. It is in our right to "just say no" to the spraying. We were not asked if it was okay to spray our property and our air, we were told we had no choice. Proposition 103 (the insurance initiative) proves that the people's vote is a secondary priority, next to the dollars of corporate firms. The pro-choice movement is not about using abortion as a form of birth control, it's about being able to decide for yourself what is good for you. It's about having alternatives. It's about FREEDOM. Could it be that the anti-smoking campaign was launched to divert peoples attention away from some more serious problem? We were so busy pointing the finger at tobacco users that we forgot about the thousands of diesel running trucks, buses, and cars that account for some 96% of the air pollution in Los Angeles. These vehicles are exempt from smog devices. How many times have we been "diverted" the same way? In 89 & 90 we have seen many struggles in the name of Freedom. Beijing, Seoul, the Berlin Wall, Poland, Romania, and South Africa. In our own country we lazily sat back and allowed those who are supposed to watch out for our better interest take our Freedom away. Congress has redefined the Constitution by dictating which arms we have the right to bare. We shake our heads in approval like some brainwashed robot thinking that we need to be protected from ourselves. The Supreme Court took away the Sacrament of Peyote from the American Indian & we sit back in relief thanking our Gods it wasn't us. In Florida business people are being jailed for selling albums that the Court feels is "obscene". This may be the greatest country in the world, but it is so very far from being perfect. So the next time you pat yourself on the back for being a "free" person, put aside all the propaganda you've been taught by others about what Freedom is and see if you can make up your own definition of the word. Until then, sweet dreams. I'll see you when you wake up. Love is the law, love under will. In service to Our Lady, Secundus Kerub. *********** LITTLE NAPOLEON AWARD This award is dedicated to those who's vision of greatness has lead them away from all that is just, right & good. On 6/11/90 "Drug Czar" William Bennett, the director for the National Drug Control Policy for the Bush administration, blamed the Devil for the nations drug problem in a speech in New Orleans. He said that too many people in drug treatment centers call crack cocaine "The Devil", too often to ignore. He said: "It is a product of the Great Deceiver", "I have seen the face of evil". He even went as far as to call for the "death of modernism", which is a philosophy that redefines Biblical and Christian teachings in the contexts of modern science, historical research or other developments. (And he calls cocaine the great deceiver!) He praised the Supreme Court decisions to outlaw the ritualistic use of Peyote by the American Indian and to allow Bible Clubs in public schools. Mr. Bennett said nothing as to the rights of other religious groups in our schools system, such as Jewish, Moslem, Islamic, Buddhist, Pagan, and Thelemic. It is very clear where Mr. Bennett stands on the equality issues. *********** In this space the RPSTOVAL REVIEW will be publishing a column called: "GO ASK ALICE". Its function is to answer personal, political, social, and Magickal question as applied to a Thelemic view point. The reader is encouraged to ask questions, but it is the policy of the Rpstoval Review to promote the exchange of ideas based on free thought. Letters to Alice can be addressed to: GO ASK ALICE C/O THE RPSTOVAL REVIEW STREET ADDRESS CORONA, CA. 91719 *********** THE SHIT LIST Once in a while we get wind of companies that have given in to tyranny and oppression. We are not insinuating that anyone boycott any of these companies. It is our intent, however, to inform the reader what these companies stand for, and whose views they endorse. The following companies have canceled their financial support to Planned Parenthood because of pressure (boycotts) applied by "Right to Life" fanatics. AT&T, Union Pacific, J.C. Penney, Eastman Kodak, Gannet, and Burger King. (The reason that these "fundies" are so effective in blackmailing these corporations is that they give the impression that they are many. This is easily accomplished because not everyone that opposes them stands up. Get involved, these are your rights!) *********** FOOD SECTION Our Holy Book tell us that eating and drinking are Sacraments unto the Goddess. Therefore, we have created this column to bring you recipes for exotic and dishes and drinks from exotic places. This space is dedicated to making this form of worship a pleasant sensory experience. "eat rich foods and drink sweet wines and wines that foam!" LIBER AL I:51 ABORIO RICE (a South American dish) by Soror Alice I've tried this recipe recently and it is by far one of the most colorful dishes I've ever seen. Helpful hint: This is not a dish you can walk away from, it must be constantly stirred. You'll need: 1 Tbs. saffron 2 1/14 cups of risotto or white rice. 1/4 cup of finely chopped yellow onion 7 Tbs. butter 1 cup chicken broth (real or substitute) 3/4 cup of white wine (not Sherry) 3/4 cup grated fresh Parmesan Start by soaking the saffron in 2 Tbs. water. Cook the rice according to directions on the package. After rice is cooked, set aside. Melt the butter in a deep saucepan. Add to that the onions. Saute until onion becomes transparent. Add the cooked rice, then stir in the saffron. Mix together well. Slowly add the wine and chicken broth in increments allowing the rice to absorb it each time. Cook the rice on medium-low heat until it becomes fluffy, not sticky. (About 15 to 20 minutes). Continue adding the liquids until they are all used up. Before serving stir in some white wine and sprinkle with fresh Parmesan cheese. Serve with grated fresh Parmesan on top. And remember: "Eat, drink, and be fat and drunk". *********** HERE IT IS FOLKS; THE RPSTOVAL WORD SEARCH! (Finally!). She was named Lenore Cline by her parents, who are probably the happiest two people in the world at this time. Congratulations, it couldn't have happened to nicer people. We'll be waiting to hear those baby stories! "Be the hour auspicious, and the gate of life opened in peace and well-being, so that she that beareth children may rejoice, and the babe catch life with both hands."
